A large cigar-shaped UFO appeared over a farm located in the Western District of Victoria. The object was described as dull silver in colour. It was observed for about five minutes while stationary over a shed where irrigation pumps were located and disappeared when the farmers wife started her car to go and tell her husband who was working some distance away.

NOTE: This was the same farm where all the water in a small dam disappeared overnight.

It was in the same area where a small circular object was seen to merge with a larger cigar-shaped UFO while irrigation was in progress.

Reported 07.08.05
In early January 1989, Gary, an interstate truck driver, was travelling from Newcastle to Adelaide when he pulled up around 4.00 to 5.00 pm at a Mobil petrol station in Yunta, South Australia, to have a stop and a rest. He described the weather as super hot. He had a sleep for about four hours, then had a shower, some food and a few cups of coffee. It was about 9.00 pm when he set off for Adelaide. Railway lines were running parallel to the road on which he was travelling, and it was between the road and the railway lines that a large glowing ball, like a basketball, went straight past Gary, in the direction he was travelling. It made a whooshing noise as it raced by. Gary wasn't far out of town as he could still see the lights of Yunta in the distance in his rear vision mirror. He thought it might have been a train on the lines but it turned out it wasn't. It was parallel to the road at about the height of his truck cabin. It was an orange flame colour. Gary says: I just want to let you know I was not tired, I wasn't hallucinating. I was well rested, well fed and wide awake. It went so fast too, then it vanished in the blink of an eye. It was something I can't explain. I know there was no aircraft there and they were not crop dusting either, as there's nothing there to dust. It is desert-like, no trees. Long lonely road. You don't see many cars, only a few trucks on the road. I can't explain what I saw. Daniel Sims AUFORN QLD

TA 1989-003
The family had been out on a fishing trip. They were returning to Straham towing another vessel and at the time of the event were still some 9kms south of Straham (West Coast) on Macquarie Harbour.

A brilliant blue-white light appeared in the eastern sky at about 50o elevation. It seemed to have a wispy cloud surrounding it. At first the witnesses thought it was an aircraft coming down to land on their boat. It was loosing elevation in the eastern sky and coming,it seemed, directly at them. The light was bright enough to cast a weak light on the boat. One witness described the apparent size as half moon. The light did not veer away or fade but just went out. The vapour or hazy cloud was no longer visible. Duration: 3 minutes.

25.01.89 INVERMAY, TAS 0100hrs (NL)
TA 1989-007
Two people, unable to sleep, went out for a walk to the nearby Tamar River, stopping on a jetty for a chat. High in the sky to the NW, they noticed an object like a star falling towards the ground and took it to be a shooting star. However, it came to a halt at an elevation of 20 to 40o. The light stopped for about 15 seconds, then moved horizontally across the sky towards the SE. Twice more it stopped for some 10 seconds at a time before it just disappeared away into the far distance. Each time the light would move it seemed to have a tail behind it. Duration: 2+ minutes.

SKETCH

The mother was in a car when her attention was drawn to a light moving in the north-western sky by her two children.

She could see a bluish star-like light moving across the western sky at a fairly high elevation. The object then did a 90o turn and dived straight down, stopping briefly before returning to its original position, turning yet again, disappearing behind a cloud in the south-western sky. The object had a sparkling bluish tail during the whole episode, lasing some ten to twenty seconds.

16.06.89 YOWAH OPAL FIELD, QLD 0315hrs (CE1)
QA 1989-015
Two brothers engaged in opal mining in Western Queensland sighted a large disc-shaped object and six smaller ones at about 3.15am. The oldest brother saw them first and alerted the other. His attention was first drawn by a large shadow (being a bright moonlite night) passing over him and the surrounding area. He looked up to see an immense object four to five times the size of a football field recede quickly towards the moon and come to rest near the moon. By blocking the moon out with a nearby overhang he could observe the object clearly.

SKETCH

It was then about one and a half times the apparent size of the moon as shown in the above drawing, which is based on the observer's description and sketches, and had a shiny gun-metal appearance. As he looked, he also noticed the smaller three objects numbered 1, 2 and 3 in succession. He then noticed three lights in the distance which became larger as he watched until they appeared as objects 4, 5, and 6. Disc two moved back and forth horizontally in a smooth motion as shown and disc one moved to a position above and behind the large disc as shown.

The brothers then decided to awaken friends and ran backwards about fifty metres to their friend's home to awaken them, but when they came out again, the objects had disappeared. The first brother just caught a glimpse of a silvery object streaking pass the perimeter of the moon between the ten and eleven o'clock positions.

1989 MERRIMAC, GOLD COAST (QLD) 2200hrs (NL)
Source: AUFORN ONLINE UFO Report Form
Witness: Mr. Steve x
Number of witnesses present: 1
Sighting Duration: 2 hours

Observation: I came home from work by bicycle from Mudgeeraba to my then home in Merrimac. I got home and parked my bike . I fought I walked into a spiders web and looked up . then thats when I saw about 4 to 6 Bright orange lights. more like pale lights, height about 1 klm but seem lower. First thought it was the local Hot air Balloon people doing night flying. But with no nav lights , they wouldn't be allowed. Plus there was no noise of the burners.

Description: I watched the objects for a while , my parents were home and came out and saw the objects too plus some of the neighbours. We watched as the Objects about five move slowly across the sky. I had a pair of binoculars, and used them to see closer. At the height they were at I fought I could see better. An hour had passed by then and lights were no longer together. Some moved away fast in another direction, soon to disappear. Feet were very sore by this time , so we concluded at we hadseen our very first UFO . Next day there were new reports about others sightings of the Orange light all over Gold Coast.

Location: It was along Highfield Drive, Merrimac. Right next to Highway. At time there were not many houses in the area. No brights from Sporting venues. Only noise of trucks going pass every now and then. Other Witnesses: My parents. But they don't want to be bothered by this sort of stuff now. But its always sticks in my mind when I get in a conversation about Ufos. But not an alien Nutter.

Apparent Size: Dinner Plate - Apparent Size Other: - Actual Size: I think they would have had a diameter of 20m maybe. I sometimes have wondered what they would have been. Came up with these possibilities: 1. Five Rockets , orange glow is the thrusters. 2. Balloons with glow sticks tied to bottom.

Altitude: Like I said about 1 klm high or could have been 10 stories height. - Object Origin: North east from the Ocean. - Object Destination: South west for three of them, other two went straight up Moon Visible: It was pretty dark , don't remember if there was a moon that night. - Planets Visible: a few stars. Weather Visibility: Foggy, Sunny Weather Comments: There wasn't any wind that night. it was cool. and Light fog.

1989 AUTHERS CREEK/ YAN YEAN 23000hrs (VIC)

Witness: Mr. Chris X
Number of witnesses present: 10
Sighting Duration: 2 hours.
Occupation: Cleaner now
Qualifications:-

Observation: Around sixteen years back me and three car loads of friends used to go up to the Authers creek cemetery and sit around goofing off as you do at that age ).

Started off as a small red light sitting in the sky , we thought it was a helicopters light. But after a few minutes me and my friend gary started to watch it further as it was very slowly moving towards the ground, no sound and fairly close. Suddenly a fairly large bright yellow light appeared , I would say the light was about 10 feet in size and 150 meters away and 50 meters off the ground. This light was seen by 3 car loads of my friends plus myself ( we where all out of our cars standing around talking )

The light was moving around and was splitting in two then re joining, this went on for a few minutes. It then turned into a soccer-ball size. We thought it had shrunk in size but later on after thinking it I'm fairly sure it had shot off into the distance that fast and quick that it appeared to have changed size, and we where watching it off in the distance thats why is looked much smaller. After 30 seconds of watching the smaller light , It was suddenly back at the same larger size. We watched it move around for a few more minutes then it was gone.

But my friend gary swore it had taken off about 500 meters away, and now looked like a small dull house light. So we all jumped into our cars and took off towards what gary said was the light. We went down a road that's at the back Yan Yean reservoir and stopped to watch this light. Every one still thought it was a house light in the distance. We then seen two fairly small red lights around 100 meters away, these where moving up in a swaying motion. We thought at first they where someone's rear tail lights driving up a hill. We where then treated to a light show of small whitish blue lights and small red lights for a good hour ( these where say tennis ball sized or there abouts ).

But the best bit for everyone that 100% convinced us all that we were watching was a full blown UFO was when we decided to flash our car lights at the small lights. with out a word of a lie about 50 meters away just above the trees a group of lights started moving around some-type of craft We couldn't see anything bare the lights moving around what we guessed was the outer edge. This was very large about 100 feet in width , very close to us , made no sound and was just above some gum trees. It flashed the lights for maybe 20 seconds or so as if to show us there was a craft there. We watched the smaller lights that where about 100 meters away for another good hour and got bored and took off home. We all knew and still know for a fact we had seen something very special. If you want me to find out the name of the road s and mark a map where this all took place ill be happy to do that.

Anyway thought I should at least give this info to you as it relates to the Whittlesea area and I remember seeing the picture in our local paper a few years back about the picture taken at the crossing and thought you may be interested in this story and the location.

Description: THe smaller lights would sway around . the larger say 10 foot one seemed to be changing shape as if it was pulling apart then re joining Location: Authers Creek / Yan Yean Other Witnesses: A guess would be about 10 people. Apparent Size: Tennis Ball Actual Size: There was a range of sizes small tennis ball size that we watched the most. A larger around 10 foot size. Altitude: This varied from as high as 50 meters to much lower Object Origin: The red light we first seen did come into view it was basically just sitting in the sky when we took notice of it. Weather Temp: Pleasant, Calm.
