Outside Marks’ house he noticed 4 bright/orange red fireballs moving slowly across the sky in a horizontal row from West to East. He watched them for around 5 - 10 minutes. He had noticed similar objects on previous occasions, usually during the weekend. By the descriptions given it seems highly likely to be fire starters and garbage bags, very similar to those being used in Penrith, NSW at the beginning of this year. Karen Burden AUFORN NSW

Tony said: I have never seen anything like it and this is the first time I have ever thought of calling a UFO hotline. I have a back ground as a pilot so I am familar with the constalations and aircraft. What I saw was like nothing I have ever seen before. I saw 8 orange balls of light in a formation of a string of pearls. These objects lit up some what like a firework. The objects went slowly down behind MT Jemalong I could see the whole Mountain light up as it went slowly behind it. My son who was at Merriwa some three hundred klm awaysaw the same thing he called me right away he thought he was seeing a plane crash to the ground. He said it looked really big to him. He said: dad it must have been huge to you as you were closer than me. Diane Harrison AUFORN

(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 0756)
The witness was looking north and noticed a very bright white starlike object hovering below a cloud layer at about 1500ft. He watched for some 15 minutes. The object took off at great speed into the clouds and instead of the white light, four red lights appeared briefly in a horizontal arrangement before disappearing with the main object. Witness insists it was not any sort of conventional craft, backing up this declaration by several year’s of work at Perth Airport. Brian Richards ASPR/UFORUM

(Source: THE UFO AUSTRALIAN BULLETIN, Victorian U.F.O Research Society)
Di & Terry Smythe from Haryborough saw 4 orange objects from Victor Harbour on Monday 19 June. The sighting lasted approximately 12 minutes from 10:15pm. The lights were dull rather than vivid in colour. The lights travelled south at a medium pace until they faded out of sight. "4 bright orange lights which were moving slowly east to west. One disappeared as though the light went out. One of the remaining 3 lifted position then returned to the other 2 then lifted again and stayed that way. The lights were dimming and flaring - not in unison - as though the objects were turning the lights away and toward us in the pictured formation. They moved at a moderate speed due south until they faded. When I first saw these lights I thought of everything possible that could produce the sight I saw, I processed, I came up with no explanation at all."

20.06.00 ADELAIDE (PARA HILLS), SA 2000hrs (CE1) (NL)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 0771)
Shape: Ball
Size: Small
Objects: One
Colour: Orange
Sound: NIL
Duration: approx 3 min
Direction: travelling East
Weather Conditions: Clear night sky
Witnesses: Peter, Kim and next door neighbour

On Tuesday the 20th at 8.00pm, Peter whilst outside, saw a small orange ball in the sky, he called out to his wife to come and have a look. Peter said "It was orange in colour, like when you burn a piece of paper, the colour of the flame". Whilst they were outside observing the object, Peter called out to his neighbour, who was standing in his front yard, to have a look. His neighbour also confirmed that he saw the object.

The object was approx 50 metres high, travelling East on a parallel course. During the 3min sighting it held a constant speed and height. They did not hear any noise coming from the object and as they continued to watch, the colour remained constant then it seem to flicker as it lost altitude and disappeared.

Peter states, that during the years he and his wife have lived in this house, they have become accustomed to the various planes that fly over due to the nearby Parafield Airport. They both state, that what they saw, was not a plane, his neighbour agrees.

His wife Kim contacted the UFO Hotline not only to report this sighting, but to see if anyone else had reported something similar. Charmaine Ballam AUFORN SA

Size: When 5 - saucer size ...when 1 - dinner plate
Objects: 5
Colour: White
Sound: Nil
Duration: 5 mins approx
Direction: heading East
Witnesses: 1 - Adriana
Weather conditions - cloudy sky, wet

Adriana was driving in the Croydon area of Adelaide. She first spotted something through her drivers side {RH} window, but since it was wet she originally thought it was just glare. But as she continued to watch it, she realised that it wasn’t. She then stopped her car and pulled over to the curb, wound down her window to get a clear look.

The sky was cloudy, and she originally thought it was someone shining light onto the bottom of the clouds. As she continued to watch, she realised that no, these lights were more above the clouds. A plane flew by, confirming not only that fact, but the fact that this was something different and unusual.

Whilst watching these 5 lights in random formation, she saw them join to form one large ball of light, then split and go clockwise into 5 separate balls, they repeated this a few times, as they kept moving rapidly east until out of sight.

The sighting lasted approx 5 mins. I asked Adriana if the road that she was on was busy, did she see anyone else that may have been watching these lights. She told me yes it was busy and that she had seen one car as she was driving past pulled over, but did not know if they were also watching what she was. I also asked if she could see any visible night sky, to which she replied no, it was completely cloud covered.

She also told me that she wrote everything she saw down right away, then rang the UFO hotline to see if anyone else had reported something like this. Charmaine Ballam AUFORN SA

22.06.00 MURRAY BRIDGE, SA 0740hrs (DO)
(Source: THE UFO AUSTRALIAN BULLETIN, Victorian U.F.O Research Society)
Ben O’Brien, 27, was travelling from Adelaide to Bordertown for work on the morning of 22 June. At approximately 7:40am and about 20km from Murray Bridge a strange white object was noticed just to the right of the rising sun. At first it was thought to be a small cloud but on close inspection it was too solid looking to be a cloud. In between the object and the sun was a vapour trail left behind by an early morning flight to Melbourne. The vapour trail was drifting whereas the white object was stationary. "I viewed the object for about 10 minutes as it was straight ahead of me (approx 15 degrees from the horizon), the object did not move at all in all that time. I estimate it was about 5 - 10km the other side of Murray Bridge. Interestingly when I was crossing over the bridge at the end of the freeway the object suddenly seemed to drop and come closer, unfortunately I was on a bridge and therefore couldn’t stop. The road veers to the right (south-east) immediately after the bridge and in the 20-30 seconds it took to get to the parking bay after the bridge I lost sight of the object. The last glimpse I got was of the object rapidly dropping to the ground, less than a kilometer away, it almost looked like a glider (ie it now had wings) except it was too big for one and didn’t behave anything like a glider. It was difficult to work out why it had left my field of vision as although I had changed direction I still had the sun as a point of reference for locating the object when I arrived at the parking bay. Ironically upon returning home on the Saturday night I sighted an orange object not far from home at Para Hills, this object looked similar to an object I had seen approximately 12 months ago, reported in the November 1999 issue in which I was unsure whether it was an errant garbage bag. This time I could be sure that what I was seeing was a garbage bag and therefore I believed that what I saw last August was also a garbage bag."

Description: "We were driving home and my friend noticed the objects in the sky, about seventeen I remember counting. Cars were stopped on the side of the road and people were looking at them as well. I wanted my family to see them so we continued to their home and woke the whole house up, around 11.30pm we all sat on the verandah, me, my mum and dad, my friend and my sister and her husband. Some made a formation. They seemed to be moving slowly. Its three years since I witnessed this and I am still amazed at what I saw....would love to see it again."

Approach Direction: Across the sky
Departure Direction: Straight up
Witness Direction: South
Colour/Shape: Bright lights

29.06.00 PERTH (LESMURDIE), WA 2032hrs (CE1)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 0774)
Louise and a friend were watching the stars looking East, at Lesmurdie in the Perth Hills 7.30pm 29/6/00. They saw an unusual V-shaped white light emitting blue, red, yellow and green colours drop down to tree-top height, move to the right (South) and stop. After a couple of seconds the object shot up into the sky to about 70 degrees where it remained stationary till they went to bed. The following night they checked the the (sky) area but did not see the object again. Louise phoned the Bickley Astronomical Observatory and encountered some off-putting rudeness. She was told that her sighting was nothing more than a ‘dying star’ and to leave it at that. She will not report any future sightings to the Observatory. Brian Richards ASPR/UFORUM
