ca. MARCH 2000 CANBERRA (ARANDA/BRUCE), ACT 1730-1830hrs (CE1)
(Source: UFORNSW Online Report Form)
Mr. L, occupation Bartender, observation: I was stuck in traffic on my way to a rugby match at Canberra Stadium. It was still light out, but approaching sunset. I looked out the window into the sky and saw a obviously metallic, circular object making it way slowly across the sky at high altitude. The sun was glinting off it. I thought it must have been a balloon of some sort as it’s pace was slow and constant. I was still watching it about a minute later when it suddenly zoomed off at an incredible speed towards the horizon. Literally a second later it was gone. It struck me as strange as balloons don’t usually increase speed like a cannonball.

Description: Metallic, circular. It was too high to see any other details.

Location: Aranda/Bruce ACT. It was about the size of a commercial jet when they pass over at very high altitudes and at that altitude it had to be at least as large as a truck, almost certainly bigger. The object was about cruising altitude of commercial jets, it came from the west travelling East. Doug Moffett UFORNSW

The witnesses, Kelly & Paul Lindquist, were at Perth’s only surviving drive in cinema. It was a clear night. The noticed to the right of the screen (south) an orange light moving erratically about. It moved westwards then north all the time jumping and zig-zagging in this unusual way. It also changed colour from orange to white and moved very fast. They calculated it was low in the sky about 15 - 20 degrees. After about 10 seconds it just disappeared - faded out. Brian Richards ASPR/UFORUM

Brenda was in the kitchen on the phone to her sister, when she noticed an orange light out the window. The orange light appeared to have white undertones to it. Brenda is familiar with rescue helicopters that routinely fly over her area, this was not a helicopter. There was no sound as the object seemed to travel just above her neighbour’s roof although her two german shepherds whined at the back door. The objects appeared to be gliding above high tension wires and an ariel in the distance that the witness is not sure of in regard to it’s purpose. The duration of the sighting was approximately 5 to 10 minutes as it travelled from north east to south west. A second orange light was then seen and then a third. They travelled in a horizontal line, then stopped and formed a circle. Brenda’s husband works at an airport so she rang him to see if could verify?but the airport is too low to have clear sight of the objects. At this point a fourth object appeared, travelling at much greater speed than the other three. The fourth object then dropped a bright light that descended at great pace?but the fourth object continued to shine just as bright. The objects then dissipated in several directions at great speed and appeared to be moving away from the witness. The objects seemed to be all the same distance away and were evenly spaced for the most part. The witness rang Williamtown Air Base and was referred to 013. The variable speeds reported do not seem to fit with illuminated garbage bags including the fact that at one point before the fourth object joined the other objects it appeared stationary, again to not fit the pattern. I will be following up with police stations and newspapers to gain further reports and information. It could be illuminated garbage bags but the differing speeds and directions are confusing to that scenario, also the witness was quite sure the objects moved away from her rather that just going out. The time of the sighting was between 8.30 and 9.00 pm. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

14.03.00 NEWCASTLE (HUNTER VALLEY), NSW 0430hrs (IDENTIFIED AS VENUS)
(Source: 1800 Freecall National Hotline Number - Callin Code: 0618)
Alison’s two small children alerted her to a bright star like object at approx 4.30am that appeared like a supernova, very bright with silver sparks flying off it to about one to three cm relatively. Duration was approx one hour then Alison went to bed. The object appeared stationary for the most part, although appeared to move about one cm higher before returning to original position. It was below the level of the other stars and above the level of the scattered cloud. The object appeared to have lateral movement of approx one and a half cm’s over a mountain. The sparks seemed to dim toward the end of the hours observation. The object was seen in a south-south-westerly direction. This is the part of the sky and time when Venus could be seen. Venus is rising at approx 4am and is particularly bright at the moment. Due to the effects of humidity causing the lower atmosphere to be lumpy and thick, Scintillation would be greater than normal and due to it’s low position above the horizon at that time this sighting is most likely to be Venus. Witness is staying up tonight to see if the same effect happens tonight, she will let us know the outcome. The apparent downward movement of the object may be due to inversions in the atmosphere caused by the high humidity. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

Steve reported seeing individuals between Mulgoa Road and Regentville releasing what looked like dark green garbage bags with Firestarters in wire casing tied to them. He sighted this in one of the industrial areas of Penrith. Other witnesses have come forward with similar stories during the month of March. Karen Burden AUFORN NSW

The witness, Brian, was in Jubilee Street when he saw a huge, orange sphere to the north-east. He was initially attracted to a pulsating glow lighting up the area. The slowly moving sphere, larger than four full-moons, was the colour of burning coal and looked on fire. After a minute, the glow went out. Brian could see the dark outline of an object which zig-zagged down towards the ground leaving a smoke trail two hundred metres long. Brian Richards ASPR/UFORUM

Anita told me that she was a professional photographer and was taking a photo of the sunset at Wellington point (looking towards Wynnum/Brisbane) on 29th March 2000 at 5.55pm. When she developed the photo, to her astonishment she saw two UFO’s in her picture, that she did not see when taking the photo. Jan Stone AUFORN QLD

29.03.99 TIPPOGOREE HILL, TAS Dusk to dawn (CE2)
(Source: TUFOIC Newsletter)
Mr R lived in an isolated area off the Bridport Road when his sighting occurred in early 1999. Following publicity in the Launceston Examiner he sent an excellent illustration of what he saw together with details of the sighting. Initially Mr R thought something was happening in the bush about a kilometre north of his property. He was able to ascertain later that the area was all locked up, as even he was unable to get a close look at this possible landing location. At first a bright floodlight was seen like a welding type light. On inspection with binoculars he saw a very bright yellow cross, which was coming out of a shell type structure. The structure looked to be a sphere about 10 m across with a bright blue ball in the centre. Mr R observed the mass of light for a while and then off and on during the night, it did not seem to change position or appearance. He was fortunate to see its departure when he looked out again near dawn. The object rose up into the sky to about 10 degrees then he found it hard to tell if it faded or got smaller as it receded into the distance. The landing area was a clear patch in rough scrub, which the witness was unable to visit. Keith Roberts TUFOIC
