Bianca was outside her house when she saw a bright orange/yellow light in the sky about 45 degrees above the horizon and around the size of a five cent piece at arm’s length. She stated it was moving very slowly, almost appearing stationary at times. Some flickering of the light was apparent. She called out to her boyfriend, Mum and Dad to come out and see it. The other people came out and saw it, then Bianca went inside to grab her binoculars. Just before she went inside she noticed a plane traveling east, she then ran inside and by the time she came back out the light had disappeared. Her mother stated it just wasn’t there anymore. Her mother thought it initially appeared to be over the suburb of Frenches Forest. No one else in the family thought it was worth phoning up about, but Bianca thought it was important enought to be reported. Karen Burden AUFORN NSW

Wednesday, 2 May 2001, 6.10pm. Woody Woody Mine, south-west of Port Headland. Karl was eighty kilometres west of the Woody Woody Mine. In the light of his bull-lights he saw a strange object hovering ahead about thirty metres up. It was oval and shaped like a flounder about nine metres across. Along the side edges were "undulating fins," hence the flounder comparison. The underside of the object was white, whilst the top was brown and segmented like a tortoise shell. Centrally underneath the object there appeared to be an hexagonal aperture surrounded by a bluish haze. There was a blister or possibly some sort of cabin at the front leading edge and a series of holes running round the object. After about a minute, the craft took off at lightning speed in the direction of Port Hedland to the north-west. Karl found out later that a number of women had witnessed a bright object streak over Port Hedland from the south-east a minute after his sighting. That the object was one and the same cannot be verified.

Marty, a security guard at King St Wharf, received a call from a worker at a local restaurant reporting a UFO. The objects was seen to the North, stationary and silvery and coloured in appearance. The objects were tilted away from each other and were close together. I only have the security guards no:, so can get no further details. Refer UFOR NSW website callin dated 3rd of May detailing very similar objects. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

"Large orange light passed across sky for about 10 mins, then as it flew to right hand side of vision pieces broke off and skewed downwards towards earth. 8 other people on balcony saw this."

Unusual: Unusual lights, moving slower than planes.
Location: on a balcony watching the sky, through binoculars
Other people: David A, Craig D, Sarah C, jess el, Dr P, Sharelle P, Adam P
Weather conditions: Some clouds, but object in clear sky.
Physical stuff: Circular, bigger than a plane. Looked like a ball of fire, but it changed trajectories.

Investigator’s Notes: Original sighting seen low in the sky, not a plane. Object appeared to have an orange glow with black dots when viewed thru binoculars. No tail was observed as it changed trajectory doing angles. The object appeared to avoid plane flight paths, although it appeared much higher than the planes. Duration of sighting 10 to 15 minutes.

Earlier in the day witness’s mother saw two orange lights, perfect circles of light, with defined edges hanging stationary in the sky, but moving apart and together whilst staying close together. The objects were very bright and appeared big and a long way away. Duration of sighting was at least 5 minutes at approx.... 5pm 3rd of May. Doug Moffett UFORNSW

Chris was driving along Showground Road, Castle Hill on Monday evening around 10.05 pm. He noticed in the South-Western Sky a bright purple light. He stated the light was not twinkling, was stationary and was around four times larger than one of our closest stars. He stated from the time he noticed it, the light hovered for around 20 seconds and then it took off like a bullet further away to the South-West, accending as it accelerated. He stated it was definitely bright purple in colour and that the middle of the car window he was looking did not have any window tint that could have given a false impression. He stated there would have to be other witnesses as there were so many cars on the road at the time. Karen Burden AUFORN NSW

(Sourced: Journal of Alternative Realities - Volume 10, Issue 1, 2002)
Saturday, 5 May 2001, 3.30-6.30am. West of Merredin, WA. Five people in two vehicles were delivering newspapers on the early morning run through Mukinbudin and Kununoppin. A bright, white, incandescent light appeared to the north and right-hand side of one of the vehicles. It came in low in front of the van, then followed behind before moving to the front again. When they got to the Nungarin Hotel the driver of one of the vehicles woke up his mate to witness the ongoing encounter. He was very frightened by what he saw and lay on the floor of the vehicle, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up. Apparently, the cab of the van heated up to an uncomfortable level and the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was overheating. The engine itself started knocking loudly and loss of power was evidenced by no response from the accelerator. When the light rose up into the sky and appeared as a small star, the van’s engine functioned normally again. As daylight approached, this ‘star’ could not be seen in the brightening sky.

At 4.00 am on the 10th May Sue saw a bright white star like light in the Eastern Sky around 25 to 30 degrees above the horizon. She said there was cloud cover, but that this object seemed to be below cloud cover. Sue said it was 10 times larger than a star and was positioned over the ocean. She noticed it twice in a period of 45 minutes and then woke her husband to see it. It apparently looked at times as if it was expanding and contracting. Her husband grabbed the Video Camera and taped it for around 10 minutes (no tripod). Apparently on the digital video you can notice that the object is round and that it expands and contracts like a flower opening up. Also noticeable is two vertical lines which move across the object from left to right; this however only occurred once.

Sue also stated she saw the same object on Saturday morning around 5 am bearing 45 to 50 degrees above the horizon. They stated they would send video footage as soon as possible. Karen Burden AUFORN NSW

18.05.01 NEWSTEAD, TAS 0722hrs (DO)
(Source: Tasmanian UFO Investigation Centre)
A number of people were having a smoke outside their flat in the Launceston suburb of Newstead. They all noticed a bright shiny metallic something in the north-east sky. One of the witness was able to view the object with binoculars. It seemed to be losing elevation in the northern sky during the 5 or so minutes it was observed. It looked a bit like a teardrop on its side with some shading below. The strangest thing were two orange balls that were rotating around the perimeter of the object. The two balls were always on opposite sides of the object. Its method of disappearance was also a bit of a puzzle, it seemingly just disappeared in mid air. One second it was there, the next it was gone. Enquiries with Police, media, airports all failed to turn up an explanation or any other witnesses. Paul Jackson TUFOIC

"Well I raced in and got my husband to have a look and he saw them also."

John said: "I don’t know what these things were but they sure an’t anything we have. They just sat there shinning and doing nothing, they were very still and soundless."

Greta said: "I could see a helicopter moving towards the objects it was as these objects became aware of the helicopter because they just disappeared like someone had turned of a light switch. Wow what a sight we rang 4BH to see if any one else had seen them but they told us no one had called in, but I guess not to many people get up at that time."

Elizabeth said: "I rang the Airforce and they fogged me off. I rang the aviation authority and they had nothing on their system. I am aware of the air traffic because I have lived here for years. These were no normal planes they had no wings.

I have had the run around and I want to know what it is."

Comment:
I did this callin as Elizabeth was very upset, I think the authorities upset her more than seeing the object. I explained it could have been a meteorite as it travels quite fast through our atmosphere. Elizabeth settled down and seemed to be happy with the possible explanation. Diane Harrison AUFORN

On the 25th May at around 8:30 pm at St Clair, Denis noticed two bright orange objects in the sky heading North to North-West. He thought these objects may have been weather balloons, but dismissed the concept soon after and left a message with our hotline. On the 1st of June which was also a Friday he noticed again that there were bright orange lights in the sky, however this time there were four. He stated that they were moving across the sky together slowly, about the same altitude and direction heading as the ones he’d seen the week prior. He watched them for about 15 minutes when one took of travelling faster than a plane continuing to head north. He then said another took off to the North-West at a less accelerated speed. The two remaining kept travelling at the same speed and in the same direction. I have asked him to contact me if he sees these objects again. Karen Burden AUFORN NSW

30.05.01 SYDNEY (COLLAROY), NSW bet.2000-0000hrs (NL/CE1)

On 30th May 2001 Phil, Laszlo and myself decided to go on a night survey trip to Long Reef at Collaroy. We arrived there at around 6:00pm (after assessing another sight at Collaroy beach) and set up near the very edge of a cliff. The view towards the north was brilliant, however the view of the east was slightly obstructed by bushy vegetation. The night was slightly hazy with a cold southeasterly breeze. There was quite a lot of air traffic up until 6:45pm when it seemed to ease off. That was when we first noticed something unusual between Bungan Head and Bangalley Head at Avalon.

A glowing bright orange globular appeared over a reserve from virtually nowhere. It seemed to hover for a few minutes before it slowly began to descend over a dark region (reserve). It seemed awfully close to the trees to be a conventional aircraft. Through the binoculars one could see the orange light reflection on the trees that was emitted by the object. We watched it for around three to four minutes before it disappeared. Now I had my suspicions that it could have been a helicopter of some kind. But it wasnít until the unprecedented event occurred at 8:15pm that would make me think otherwise. What happened next would strike at us with total awe.

Approximately north-northeast a bright halo appeared in the mist around 10 degrees above the ocean. This entity faded and reappeared three or four times before it gradually descended into view. Again we noticed a bright orange globular, more brilliant than before. As I grabbed the binoculars, I noticed something that astounded me beyond belief. The object first appeared in an elongated cylindrical shape. However as it began to turn I then saw the big picture; a large half moon shape object at an approximate 120 degree angle. The object slowly distanced itself heading north and loosing altitude at the same time. It appeared to have disappeared in a fashion I could not explain any other way but submerging into the ocean. We then lost sight of it for the rest of the night.

The final encounter lasted for around five minutes. Attila Kaldy UFOSWS
