On Friday night (31.8.01) at 10.30pm, Simone was laying on the floor of her lounge room, when she looked out of the window and saw what looked like a shooting star, only it was much larger. She said it was about half the size of the moon. It was in the East Position, and fell down, just like a falling star only much lower in the sky and just went out. Jan Stone AUFORN QLD

At around 11.35am This morning (2.9.01) at Atkinson Dam on the road between Gatton and Esk, Mike and his family saw what looked like a shooting star with a long greenish/blue tail behind it. It was in the East/North/East position, looked like it was towards North,East side of Brisbane. Went out just before it hit the ground. He wanted to know if anyone else saw it. Please read my next report for similar sighting (Report 01713) Jan Stone AUFORN QLD

On the 5th of September whilst again smoking and stargazing, Paul, alone this time, noticed a dim star that then became a bright star in the sky. The bright star then dimmed before changing speed like a shooting star with a blue/white tail, before dimming and then turning bright red before disappearing. The object performed several zig zags in the sky over approx 30 to 40 cms apparent length with height variation of plus or minus 10cms vertically giving a 20cm approx apparent length from top to bottom of the zig zag before disappearing and going very dim. The object on the 5th of September zig zagged for approx 5 minutes before slowly moving away from the viewer toward space. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

Friday, 7 September 2001. 7.49-8.24pm. Mooliabeenie (between Bindoon and Gingin), WA. Carolyn was driving along the Bindoon-Moora road. Looking east she saw a bright, red, stationary object just above the horizon. It kept growing bright and dim. It appeared to be spherical and the colour of a red traffic light. The ball finally faded out at 8.24pm but left a glow in the sky for some time. The witness, who knows the area fairly well, thought the object was over a valley between two lines of hills.

Sunday, 7 October 2001, 9.30pm-9.50pm. Morley/Bassendean (northern suburbs), WA. Simon and his girlfriend were travelling along Anzac road towards Bassendean train station. They noticed a star-like object zig-zagging about to the right of their car. The object would come in close to the car and then recede. Being curious, they stopped the car and shone a torch in its direction. As if responding, it came back closer and then retreated over the horizon. However, the couple spotted the object near Bassendean Broadway, where it remained stationary to the west. Six pencil-like beams of light shot down from the craft, curiously detached like falling neon tubes. The couple, heading north by this time, realised they were still being followed by the light which was now orange. They started to panic and Simon’s girlfriend was crying. They drove home as fast as they could and the object shot off at great speed.

My second sighting was on September 9th 2001. I had taken a friend from the US for a drive in the local forests South East of Mount Gambier to show her some of our wildlife at night. As we were returning to Mount Gambier along a track bordering a Pine Forest and open farmland, the lights of Mount Gambier were clearly visible about 10 Km to the North west. As it was a clear night we stopped and got out to have a look, we were in a slightly elevated position. As we looked towards the city we saw a bright light moving across the city in a south easterly direction.

The time was 9.15 p.m. As we continued to observe it it grew brighter as it was heading in our direction. We initially thought it was the landing lights of a plane circling the city before landing at the airport, but as it continued towards us it changed in color from a bright light to a subdued orange glow. I noted that there were no red and green lights which planes normally have.

As it passed overhead at approximately 300 meter’s I could clearly see that it was a cylindrical object, it gave off no sound whatsoever, I would estimate it was travelling at around 600 km/hr as it passed over very quickly (much quicker than the normal aircraft flying in and out of Mount Gambier). We watched it until it basically faded into the southwest sky. The time when we lost sight of it was 9.18 p.m. When we returned home, my son and his friends also said they had seen a fast moving silent light when they were coming back from Millicent to the west North west of Mt. Gambier. They had no idea of what time they saw it, but it was probably not long before I saw it.

There were no news reports in the local papers of either of my sightings which is why I have been reluctant to say anything until now.

I eventually caught up with Gary F at his work place last Saturday. Gary works odd hours at the local RSL Club. When we started talking he spoke of an interesting event that occurred on Tuesday, 11th September around 11.05pm. He was venturing into his back yard that evening and discovered a cluster of lights circling around in a circumference in a low set cloud. At first he thought it was some kind of light show. But that was soon ruled out when Gary saw no ground based emitting beam. This continued on for an hour. Gary decided to contact the local authorities to shed some light on this illusive event. Apparently an officer on duty said that they would send a patrol vehicle out to the neighbourhood (I honestly think that that did not happen as you will see in my later notes).

The following day I contacted the Hornsby Police station. I was informed that the officers on duty that evening should be back on Tuesday. On Tuesday, I re-established contact with Hornsby Police station. I spoke to a lady officer regarding the reported sighting and unfortunately she had no record of it. She also said that there are 150 people working in the station at any given time, so finding an individual officer would be near impossible. Failing that, I turned to the local clubs to see if any of them were using lighting display on Tuesday, 11th September. Now the only major club that would have used something like that would have been the local RSL club, where the reportee works. Yes, he would have known about it. Also the sighting occurred during the week, which is needless to say the wrong time of the week to attract a festive crowd. Another point that is worthwhile mentioning is the directing of the sighting, being northwest. Towards that region of Hornsby is the Berowra Valley, a bushland national park. I’m not saying that a logical explanation is ruled out here, but it is possible that these feisty lights may have been part of something much larger and more complete. Attila Kaldy UFOSWS

Keeshor viewed a bright white light shining through the window of his home. He realised it was not a planet, star, meteorite or aeroplane. He had his video camera on hand so he quickly grabbed it and managed to film it for approx. 8 seconds. It was travelling from south to north going away from him but it was getting bigger until it was as big as a tennis ball. It suddenly disappeared. He said that with the naked eye it was approx. 3 inches above the horizon. He viewed the footage that he had on VHS cassette through the TV and then he said he enlarged it and viewed it again. He said that he could see that the light was rotating with all different coloured lights. Keeshor has contacted Channel 7 and Channel 9 who are interested in his story but need the footage to be analysed to be sure it is not a hoax before they air it on National TV. On the 14th September between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm Graham and his wife and two children were outside having a cuppa after dinner when his youngest son said, look Dadda there’s a plane. Both parents looked and noticed that there were 4 orange lights, each one about the size of a one cent piece at arms length. They were traveling South to North horizontally one behind the other, at what appeared to be around 100 feet apart from each other, evenly spaced. They were not flickering or pulsating, no smoke trails could be seen, but they were traveling very slowly. Graham estimated they were around 2,000 feet off the ground. He came to the height estimate as he had lived near the Richmond Air Force base for 10 years previously and therefore had quite a bit of exposure to aircraft. He stated at no time was there any indications of erratic flying tactics.

A few minutes later another two appeared traveling horizontally side by side at around 100 feet apart once again. A few minutes later another two appeared one behind the other. Graham stated they all ascended on a 30 degree climb when they reached the same area in the sky. He watched them ascend for 10 minutes until they were nothing more than pin points in the sky. It was a very clear night he said, there was no cloud cover, not even periodic. No noise was apparent. Karen Burden AUFORN NSW

On Saturday the 22nd of September at approximately ten minutes before sunrise, Charmaine and a friend noticed two bright orange flat oval discs hovering just above the buildings of the Sydney City skyline. The two objects sat side by side for about five minutes. They were observing from the penthouse level of a building in Parramatta. One of the objects then moved directly below the other via a very fast diagonal motion. Charmaine noted that the discs seemed to be surrounded by a bright orange light, that there was no noise at all and that it was a perfectly clear morning with no clouds. The discs stayed for approximately another five minutes before disappearing. Charmaine said that she believes at least eight other people witnessed the event, apart from herself and her friend. Chris, the son was floating in their pool on his back at 4.30pm. He looked at the moon almost overhead, sky was clear, moon was at quarter full. He noticed a spot of very bright light near the moon and realised it could not be a star. It was far too early, so he called his father ( Tony ). Since the object was moving slowly south they got the binoculars out ( mag 10 times ) and thought it was perhaps a satellite. The binoculars showed there were five objects in a pattern around a central object which was cylindrical or oblong in shape and was reddish. One of the objects in the formation at the front could have been saucer shaped. The movement of all the objects was orderly and NOT RANDOM.

The front object suddenly shot quickly further south, stopped instantaneously and went back to its original position in the formation. Then the formation still moving faded from sight. Derek & Veronica INFODIG Central Coast

Whilst driving from the shops Fiona and Hans saw a combination of bright, white lights. The two outer lights were round and bright, whilst the inner lights were dimmer and impossible to define shape wise. After 15 seconds of observation the lights just went out, with no silloughette behind it. There were no clouds , black or otherwise. The objects were too bright and clear to be reflections in the window. The lights appeared stationary for most of the sighting. Others stars were visible, but the object was well below the line of other astronomical objects. " It was as if they saw us looking at them" stated one of the witness’s. The end lights were round, the middle lights vague. This was a suburban area at peak hour. The witness’s TV had interference for approx 1hour later. The witness has lived in the area for 4 yrs and has never experienced interference on the TV except in storms. The object appeared low..maybe 200 mtrs above the horizon. The witness’s looked for several minutes after the sighting to ascertain the nature of the sighting , but to no avail. One of the witness’s had a sense of strangeness about the sighting. I spoke to Sharon on Saturday evening and found her to be a sincere softly spoken lady. She is 59 years old and runs her own business from home. That Tuesday night her husband had a toothache and slept on the lounge. She was awoken she thought by a brilliant sunrise, her Venetian blinds were half open and fiery gold light lit up her bedroom. Her bedroom window faces east. She looked at the clock, it was 4.30a.m too early for sunrise, so she got up and looked through the blinds. She was amazed to see a bright orange light coming from the East. She thought at first it was a street light but it was moving closer to her West, and getting bigger. Her house is on a downward slope facing north and it hovered over the roof of the house opposite hers and changed colour to a fiery red. It then shot off to the North very low over the trees until it was like a cigarette glow in the night and then shot up and disappeared. Sharon said it was as big as the sun rising at its closest and as bright. She saw no solid structure only light, which was an elongated shape and tapered as it shot away. She got the feeling it was an intelligent light mass rather than a craft.

Sharon said she is a sceptic with an open mind. She said it was completely soundless and definitely was not a meteor. The sighting lasted for approximately 30seconds. She rang the R.A.A.F and they told her that there were no military craft or helicopters in the area and they gave her the 1800 number. Sharon would also like to know if there are any U.F.O. groups in her area. Also there were power lines in the immediate vicinity of the sighting, which may be relevant after the Lithgow sighting on 23.8.01. Larraine Cilia UFOSWS

Anna reports seeing a number of sightings over the ridge at Wallow Road, Kennilworth. The latest was observed to be shaped like an eagle with flapping wings. She stated that it was flying too fast to be an eagle and that she was sure the object was a metallic pewter colour with armoured feather/plates. The object came out from a cloud and was travelling west.

Two years ago she observed a "bobbing thing" travelling over the top of the same ridge. The object was a semi circle and emitted an orange light.

Anna reported also finding an 8 foot circle at the time, on the ground that had a strong smell but deterioriated after two days.

She also stated that local farmers had found their cows to be covered in extrement in the morning and that the dogs kept sniffing it. She that the cows were used to dingos etc. and thought that something had terrified them and was thinking along the lines of a big cat. She was quite open to having anyone paying her a visit etc. AUFORN QLD

Between 7.15 and 8.00 pm the first two of four bright orange lights appeared heading South then East, dimming on and off. When the objects were closer they appeared brighter. Eventually they dissapeared. 10 minutes later another appeared, and followed the same pattern as the above. All appeared floating at a steady pace, not going fast. There was little wind and no clouds that night. Both lights appeared from the West. 10 minutes later a third light appeared from the West, this one went North and accelerated and appeared to have a plane following it. It dissapered behind a mountain. It was also dimming and glowing before dissapearing. I strongly suspect garbage bags with jiffy fire lighters, but have to check with bureau of meterology to confirm wind direction that night. Doug Moffett AUFORN NSW

Two amusement ride operators approached me on Sunday 30.9.01 with this sighting. Rod was driving along the Hume highway going north from Goulburn towards Campbelltown. Just before the Campbelltown turn off a bright white light appeared in front of him low enough for him to see it in his indscreen, travelling North to South. He awoke Belinda who was asleep in the passenger seat and she also saw it. It was moving up and down and side to side. Rod pulled over and they watched it for about 30 seconds. He said that he saw other motorists pull over to watch it and he hoped that they would report it too. He said that it just suddenly disappeared, he also likened it to the size of the sun and just as bright. Immediately an aircraft came into view travelling North to South as if it was following the light. There was no sound until the plane came into view. Larraine Cilia UFOSWS

Wayne was playing at the computer, playstation, when he noticed a hot pink bright light through the loungeroom window. The light was solid, more like the Moon than a star. The object emitted much light and if anything , was oval shaped. Wayne then ventured outside for a closer view onto the outside front verandah. Wayne lives on property 16km’s North West of Marulan. Wayne was aware of the trees position that were lighted by the object, and estimated it’s distance at 200 mtrs. At this point the light was stationary, but started heading North East. The light flared up before moving to an intense pink and then started to cruise, whilst travelling parallel to the tree tops at an even distance, indicating intelligent control. After an initial spurt, it slowed to cruise and reverted back to the same solid hot pink light. Total duration of sighting approx. 1 minute. There was no sound at all, Wayne heards jets in the distance and trucks travelling the freeway 16 km’s away, but no noise from an object approx. 200 mtrs away. A neighbour informed him that their horses had stirred that night sometime, but was unable to pinpoint a time. There was no electrical interference at the home, nor where there any significant bodies of water or high tension power lines in the vicinity. Given Wayne’s knowledge of the terrain through the gully he looks through, he estimates that the object was no more than 2 mtrs accross, given that the tree’s illuminated were within 200 mtrs. The object retained a smooth course and constant level above the tree line before disappearing through the trees and landscape. Wayne kept looking for an hour afterwards to ascertain what he had seen to no avail. Wayne also viewed the sight in daylight to ascertain relative ground points to the sighting.
