On 1 August 2004, the witness, a 60-year-old professional male, had been out to dinner with some friends and was driving home (sober) from Sydney to Camden at about 12.45 am this morning. The night was clear except for a small amount of cloud but was dry and crisp. The witness noticed an orange/red ball of fire at about 15-degrees above the horizon and about 2000 feet away on the left and appearing to come towards him, but at a parallel line it was then joined by a second ball of similar size and shape. At first he thought it was the after burners of a low flying military aircraft, but there were no other lights of any description. He stopped the car and got out to obtain an uninterrupted look.

The lights moved from right to left and in a northerly direction. They were both clearly controlled by some sort of intelligence. They stopped and hung in the sky for about two minutes and then moved upwards and to the left or right. The one on the left then moved to a higher altitude approximately 1-2 miles high and then moved away at such a great speed, in his opinion, not known by us ‘ordinary mortals’. He immediately made a call to the Sunday Telegraph newspaper and reported the incident and also tried to ring the Kingsford Smith Airport but was unable to get the number. E-mail Report

The reporting observer and two friends were driving through Liverpool on Sunday morning, the first of August at approximately 03.00 a.m. when they happened to notice two bright fireballs travelling eastward, from the west. They pulled over to the side of the road to observe, and spotted a total of five bright lights moving in different directions and hovering in the sky, just below the clouds.

Each of these bright orange objects appeared to be the relative size of a golf ball at arm's length. They moved left to right in the sky before forming a straight line, with what appeared to be equal spacing between them. One of the objects appeared to drop a small fireball, which quickly burned out.

After 15 to 20 minutes of observing these objects, each appeared to sequentially drop from the line, in left to right order, and descend slowly while gradually losing brightness and finally burning out, then suddenly falling rapidly toward the ground.

The observers were just a bit unsure if what they saw was something normal and were wondering if anyone else had had a similar sighting. They felt that the appearance, movement and behavior of these objects was very unusual. They also felt that the objects were neither commercial aircraft nor stars in the sky.

On 1 August 2004, at 12.30 pm, the witness saw three black oval-shaped objects moving at about 300 km/h, in the southeastern sky. There were two small objects and one big one. The sighting lasted one minute. The witness had seen air force planes in the same area. E-mail Report 18.08.04

While at the intersection of Lowenstein and Gilles Streets in Maryborough, the reporting observer and four others noticed in the northern sky, at an elevation of about 45 degrees, what they initially thought was a star. It was not a star because it moved straight upward, and then headed to the left for a short time, before stopping and hovering for a short time.

The object then appeared to gain speed as it headed directly toward them. As it approached, they could see that it was triangular in shape. Upon attaining the relative size of half of the full moon, it became a really bright light, and then it turned and sped off toward the west. The reporting observer indicated that he heard a loud humming sound during this event, and also that the total duration of the sighting was 10-15 minutes.

During 1994 Ms S. was involved in a horse ride from Broome to Darwin when, on 16 August 1994, the group were on the Gibb River Road, Western Australia, floating some horses into El Questro Station across the Penticoss River at around 3.00 pm. The car and float were moving extremely slowly due to the roughness of the road and they didn’t want to spook the horses. She states, “I was travelling on the back of the ute, keeping an eye on the animals when out of the corner of my eye I saw what I at first thought to be three planes coming in low to my left. I thought it odd because they were travelling really close together, and as I have flown planes before, I know how dangerous that can be unless properly trained. The reason I thought they were planes was because of the red and green lights and as a lot of the very rich stay at this station I thought it might be a private airfield. Anyway they came in quite low and then just stopped and hovered about 200 yards to my left, ovoid in shape (typical saucer shape). First it had a red and then green light travelling horizontally around the middle of the saucer. They were still there at 10.30 pm that night. At one stage there I felt I could almost touch them. They were completely silent and did nothing at all till they left that night”. There were two more witnesses during the day’s sighting and ‘probably about 30 or so’ at night when only the lights could be seen. The witness says it was ‘huge’ but there was nothing in the sky to compare its size: “Maybe 400-500 feet across and 40 to 50 feet at the centre, top to bottom.” The object appeared from the west and left moving towards the west. It was a typical clear hot day in the dry season. The sighting lasted seven hours. Anthony Clarke UFORNSW

The reporting observer was walking along the boundary of Essendon Airport and was looking toward the city as well as panning around to view the surrounding area of Pascoe Vale. At this time he saw nothing strange, but did count several aircraft tracking toward Tullamarine Airport.

As he walked down Dagonet Street, he saw six bright star-like orange lights, at an elevation of about 60 degrees, in the clear northeastern sky. The lights were moving in formation, two perfect triangles side by side, heading silently in a southerly direction.

He ran home and asked his wife to go out onto the decking and have a look into the sky. She witnessed the lights and rang her sisters who live close by. They too saw the lights, but not see all of them. At one stage, two lights disappeared and the remaining four lights formed what looked like a diamond.

The lights moved further round to the cloudy southern sky, and disappeared from view, after fifteen minutes of viewing them.

The observer reported the appearance in the northern sky, of six small, bright orange lights, that were fairly close together. These lights drifted silently toward the south where they were lost from sight.

On 24 August 2004 at 10.10 pm, the witness was having dinner at work when a workmate called him to look in a southerly direction at a 30-degree elevation and try to make out the objects in the sky. He saw two triangular-shaped patterns of groups of three lights. The orange light seemed stationary for a short while then it started to move slowly to the south. The intensity of the lights prevented the witness making out the shape of the objects. As there was a cloud cover at about 3000 feet (information supplied to witness by BOM on the Internet), the object must have been below 3000 feet. The objects vanished as if someone was dimming the lights. The sighting lasted five minutes.

The exact location of the sighting is: S 35deg 16min 20.5 sec E 149deg 07min 51.6sec
