December 2008 31.12.08 Perth (WA) 2300hrs TV/Radio: No Tv/Radio coverage because I have not told anyone yet and personally don't plan to because of fear, but if I hear that others around my street have seen it to, then I will gladly report my findings with them and go to the press, but even then I am still worried that the press will ridicule us or that I will be ridiculed by others etc. ----- Relevant part of my reply to the witness: Thank you for the submission to UFOINFO. My interest in UFOs has been for over 17 years now and I have not been 'targeted' so I personally think you can sleep easy with that one. As for your sighting I would have suggested a 'ufo balloon' (lantern) but it would have eventually flown off or disappeared. The only other thing that comes to mind is a tethered balloon, perhaps from a display or event? Would suggest having a look this evening to see if it is still there. ----- Reply from the witness: Hello Mr. Hayes, Thank you, that puts my worries at ease. I did check last night if the UFO was still there and whether it would be just something hanging off the lights or if it was somehow caused by something natural and I looked at the street light again from all different angles and at different times at night and I could not see anything like I saw on New Years Eve and believe the UFO hovered too far away from the light at some points to be connected or attached to the light. Yes personally at that evening that I saw the UFO, I figured that it might be something to do with the streetlight, but when i checked in the morning, nothing was on the streetlight and I checked at the beach, no litter was around there that could say that it was hanging off the streetlight and no one was playing with balloons that night as all of that partying was happening in Central Perth or Kings Park. Yours Sincerely, [Name deleted] P.S. - If you have any more theories regarding this, please share with me because I am interested to know. 31.12.08 Campbeltown (NSW) 2200-2300hrs Observation: Shape of objects: The object was perfectly round in shape. - Weather Conditions: Clear sky with no clouds, excellent weather conditions. Description: My husband and I were sitting out in our back yard to view the new years fire works display that takes place at midnight from Koshigaye park Campbelltown. Whilst sitting I could not help but to gaze into the sky as conditions were so clear that I could observe all the stars, suddenly almost out of no where I noticed this completely round in shape bright light. I called to my husband who said to me the most obvious, it's a plane, I replied oh no way, this object was one solid mass of light with no obvious flashing lights of a plane. I was so convinced it was not of this world hence my eyes did not leave it for a second. As myself and my husband followed the object it just disappeared into nothingness, it was the most crazy thing. I sat bewildered, it just vanished into thin air. This was by all accounts something that could not be identified, there was in my opinion no logical explanation for this object. As I stated this object was in no absolute way an Aircraft. ----- Hello John, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, well after viewing some video footage and reading about the UFO lanterns it is probable that what I seen that night was a Lantern. I cant be 100% certain but it is a logical explanation. 31.12.08 Kawau Island (New Zealand) 2215hrs Shape of objects: Round - Weather Conditions: Low cloud cover (approx 1500ft) - Description: UFO was spotted heading from west to east parallel to Bon Accord harbour below the cloud. It had a bright orange light in the centre with an orange glow around it. My husband said it looked a bit like a jelly fish. It was moving at a reasonable pace but then slowed right down almost coming to a stop. It then sped up again and disappeared to the east. Weird thing was that despite the cloud cover it did not seem to disappear thru the cloud but merely faded as if by distance in a very short time. Last thing seen was a small bright light that could have been a star. 30.12.08 Perth City (WA) 2300hrs Shape of objects: very very bright light in sky towards over armadale - Weather Conditions: clear skies. - Description: I was at work having a smoke break on the 2nd story balcony and towards armadale i spotted a light brighter than a star. I continued to watch the light as it darted to the left to quick for a plane or helicopter to move and then it darted back to the right and continued to move until it dissapeared. It then reappeared over perth city side in a matter of seconds and dissapeared. TV/Radio: nothing reported to press 30.12.08 Campbeltown (NSW) 2200hrs Observation: Shape of objects: Bright Light, like a star but a lot closer, round, bright, but changed. - Weather Conditions: Clear sky, some cloud, warm night. - Description: In Campbelltown looking towards Wollongong way (south/south west) we saw a bright star light, but it was very close. It hung in the sky. It changed multiple times in brightness, and it seemed shape as well. Off to the right (west) there was a 'plane'. But it was just sitting there. The bright light lasted for about 10+ minutes, then slowly faded. Once it was gone, the 'plane' off to the right suddenly flew over. We kept watch and it sounded different to a commercial place, and it had too many lights on it. We think it could have been some sort of military plane keeping a watch on the 'bright light' but we are unsure. It had multiple lights flashing at different times as well as no visible wing span, very unusual for a night time sighting of a plane. I took a couple of pictures but they never showed anything up on them which was quite strange. Some pictures are black with a white dot off to one side which when focused on looks like a diamond shape with three hazy lights underneath. But I'm unsure of whether it's a camera thing because it's digital and at night. It's very strange indeed! Once I run the photo's through and if they is anything I will forward on. I also tried to take a photo (actually 4) of the 'plane' and nothing showed up on the picture. Strange. TV/Radio: Not reported or not in the press to my knowledge. 30.12.08 Mile End - Adelaide (SA) 2254hrs Observation: Shape of objects: To hard to make out. - Weather Conditions: Some cloud - Description: Black Object travailing @ possible 2000km/h, Altitude approx 700 meters. Pale white light from under carriage. 28.12.08 Newcastle Beach (NSW) 2000hrs Observation: Shape of objects: Square - Weather Conditions: Crystal clear - Description: My partner and I were driving around the beach when we both spotted this bright orange object in the sky. Both of us were like, "what the hell is that?" We pulled over to the side of the road, where there were multiple people looking at it. It was hard to describe - square looking but with an orange glow at the end. It fluttered about, and came closer and then started to move away from us. So, still keeping an eye on it, we moved slowly down the road, where it just took off at lightning speed and disappeared. I have been hesitant to report it, because I just had no idea what it was & thought it was perhaps something to do with the Christmas period. But I have scanned the internet and found there were other sightings in other countries similar to this. * Hi John, I'm a regular reader of your site and submitted my own sighting just recently. Just tonight whilst looking at the recent additions for late last year, I noticed you put a link to UFO balloons on one of them and I took a look. This looks to be the same thing my partner and I saw recently (I believe I stated the date was 28th December 2008.) So just thought I would let you know. Then we started freaking out, then it changed it's course to Harvey's range. We watched this object for about 10 minutes before it disappeared behind a big heap of stormy clouds. - Description: The black shiny object flashed red once as it turned it then became smaller as it changed course and moved unlike a bird. Location: in the backyard Other Witnesses: myself and 4 children 13, 11, 10, 5, - Apparent Size Other: bigger than a bird and wider - Actual Size: 6-8 meters foot in length and 3-4 meters in width - Altitude: about 800 meters - Object Origin: east - Object Destination: west over herveys range - Moon Visible: daytime - Planets Visible: one star was visible - Weather Sky: Cloudy - Effects Physical: a cold feeling it new we were looking at it, then it 22.12.08 Beechboro (Perth) 1200hrs Observation: Shape of objects: Different shapes - Weather Conditions: Perfectly fine clear day - Description: I walked out the front of my house and my daughter 19 months old said plane daddy. I looked in the sky and saw a round blue and silver object. I noticed that it had no sound, it seemed to me that the blue colour was the same shade as the sky and hard to make out, I assumed that the silver shine was possibly a combined reflection of the sun and it body. It flew at a consistent speed rather slow. It also seemed to pulsate, not colour - but matter-hard to explain. It flew directly overhead of myself and daughter slowing down as it passed us. I would say that it was at roughly cloud level although there were no clouds. As it passed us it seemed to slow, then it turned a red colour, the red was emitted from the object as the colour was not solid. As soon as it emitted red it disappeared. I knew what I had seen was not of this world. I kept walking as I was going to the shop, as I got 50 meters down the road my daughter again said daddy a plane, as I looked into the sky I saw what I thought to be a star although I quickly realised that it was no star as it was moving quite fast north. I also noticed that three silver-not shining-silver objects were flying around this star looking object. I was confused because the star object looked out of proportion to the objects flying around it-I wasn't sure exactly whether all 4 objects were at the same height. As the silver objects were flying they were pulling off incredible manoeuvres and it seemed to me and strange to say that the silver objects had a innocent or child like nature in the way that they were flying around, like they were playing a game of chasy-sounds weird. The silver objects seemed to go back to the star and then reemerged again three more times. All this time my 20 month old daughter is still saying plane daddy which is still blowing me away because they were so high in the sky it was hard for me to see. The other thing that seemed odd to me is that this star like object seemed to be encased in a blue ball of something, the first thing that came to I rang meteorology and they knew nothing and I rang the police to see if anyone else had reported a sighting although they said that they hadn't......... 2 days later I was in my back yard and was playing with my daughter and I saw a object that at distance looked like a plane although it wasn't on a flight path used by other planes as I have observed since living here. As I looked closer I realised that this object was grey, had no wings, made no noise and was massive at a distance. It was around 2.45 pm, north east flying east, the weather was clear as day not a cloud in the sky. This grey object had no markings and seemed to fly at irregular speeds, nothing excessive although it I bought myself a video camera after my last sighting two days prior and ran inside to get it, as I came out side and tried to focus in on it it disappeared. My daughter saw it too although it seemed strange to me that something that large was not caught on camera or seen by someone else here, although I have been told that not everyone can see them..thank you for your interest, I'm not wasting your time as these things actually happpened. I hope that I have more sightings and can send you some footage next time. Received 21/12/2008 13:13:11 21.12.08 Beechboro (WA) 2230hrs Observation: During the night all the dogs including mine started barking, not a usual bark-they were scared i could tell so I went out the backyard. Flying away from perth approx. 30 to 50 kilometers away,was a very bright light,so light I thought it was the northern star although this object was south east of perth. The object had no coloured lights and was completely emersed in light. The speed of this object was incredible to,going to fast for a helicopter or plane at that distance. This object was flying away from perth and was super bright. It flew for approximately one minute before it changed direction and flew directly south at incredible speed,so fast that the light emitting from the object dimmed in a matter of seconds as it flew into the distance. The whole event lasted around 3 minutes. Effects Physical: No although all the surrounding dogs including my big german shepherd were barking and they were scared. - Effects Psychological: To be honest, I was incredible tired to the point i could not keep my eyes open which is a bit strange as i have slept very little my whole life and slept well the night before. - Other Experiences: yes,encounters with ufos,encounters with unexplainable entities. Received on 15/01/2009 21:39:17 14.12.08 Lismore (NSW) 2050hrs Observation: Shape of objects: Triangle formation Weather Conditions: Clear with few clouds - Description: I was in the kitchen when I noticed a light flash on my neighbours window. Initially thought it was lightning. I asked my 10yr old son to collect the pet bowls from outside. He sang out to say their was three white lights in a formation of a triangle in the distance moving. By the time my other son and I went out side they were gone. We sat and watched the night sky for another 10 minutes and saw nothing. We would love to know if anyone else had seen these? or know what they are. ----- Additional information: Thanks John for posting our submission. I have done a search today to see if there was any other reports. To my amazement had discovered this one which happened a few years ago. Sounds similar doesn't it.. Its also in the direction where my son said he saw the lights he did say they were moving also which I forgot to add to my submission. We do know they weren't helicopters, when helicopters base is close by you get to know the difference with the lights from helicopters. The first incident took place Monday, September 29, 1997, as a Northern Rivers helicopter was returning to Lismore from a flight to Brisbane at around midnight. The Westpac flight crew "watched the flight of an unidentified flying object" just south of Jacobs Well on the Gold Coast. "The UFO had three bright lights evenly spaced along the side of it. The pilot said it 'seemed to be flat in appearance.' The UFO resembled "an aircraft banking" and "after one minute, it dropped from sight." On Wednesday, October 1, 1997, Wayne Fisher and Rob Hill, pilots for the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Service, were "flying at 7,000 feet in a clear night sky" when a bright light suddenly illuminated the interior of their helicopter. "The sudden burst of 'white light' was at first thought to be lightning, but the sky was clear and the light came from above and to the rear of the aircraft." "Fearing a collision with another aircraft, the pilot immediately radioed Brisbane Air Service. It was confirmed that 'there is nothing within miles of you.' Fisher continued his southward flight to Lismore. At 10:45 p.m., "Mr. W.P. and his 15-year-old daughter, K, were driving in the Ballina area when they saw 'a very large, round metallic bright blue object that quickly crossed the night sky in four or five seconds.'"
