“FOURTH AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UFO CONFERENCE 2004 Part 2

Sunday, and it was the second day of the conference.

First speaker Diane Harrison spoke on the subject of “Australian UFO Photos”. This was the first time Diane had lectured to a large audience, her presentation was viewed as a breath of fresh air. Her overview and video presentation of AUFORN gave the audience an insight into what UFO research is all about. She touch on digital photography, the reality of fakers and how hard it is to investigate UFO photos. Diane’s humility was evident, she thanked younger members of her team for their support. Diane then informed the audience AUFORN is not hers alone. AUFORN is supported by many wonderful and enthusiastic people who give hours of free time in the hope of bringing answers to a mysterious subject.

Audience comments: She is wonderful. She brought the UFO subject into reality. She is a real person, I look forward to hearing Diane speak again at many more UFO conferences. Beautiful Orb, Sydney. It was a shame Diane didn't have more time to talk. She has some great stuff to talk about. David, Sydney.

The next speaker was George Simpson who spoke on “UFO cases from Victoria”. George spoke about the 1966 Westall School Incident reported by a school teacher and her young classmates who saw through the window of their classroom, a UFO which rose from the paddock and took off. School children and their teacher observed a dazzling, silver object flying over a school. It was said that aircraft operating in the area approached it, the object seemed to hover over waist high grass which was found crushed in an area 8-10 metres wide.

George then covered the Valentich case, Frederick Valentich on October 21st 1978 decided to take his Cessna from Melbourne and fly over Bass Strait to King Island. Whatever the truth may be, the fact remains that Frederick Valentich vanished in mysterious circumstances, possibly UFO related. George touched on many Victorian cases, he made mention of the most extraordinary case of Sue Sharples whose rear car window was sucked out by a passing UFO, the glass window has not been found to this day. George, like Diane, spoke about the pitfalls of digital photography and the easy ability to hoax digital photographs his power point presentation was excellent.

Audience comments: George started off a little nervous but when he got going he gave a really interesting talk. Greg.

After the first break:

Mary Rodwell spoke on “Contact & The Evidence For Star Children Genesis And Communications”. Mary talked about the Starchild phenomenon and the possibility that we are from somewhere else. Mary began with a well presented power point display. She defined the abduction experiences as “non quantifiable” informing the audience how we should honor every persons ET experience. We viewed examples of art and symbols, which to some experiencers, is a new form of comic language. Mary is always a delight to listen to.

Bill Chalker presentation was entitled “Strange Odyssey Researching The Impossible”. Bill is always an interesting person to listen to. His work in the field of Ufology is always of a high standard. A conference without Bill would be like a pub with no beer. Bill began his lecture taking us on a step by step journey of Australia’s physical UFO history. One such example occurred in northern Queensland on 19th January 1966. The township was Euramo at Tully. Mr. George Pedley, 27 years old banana grower, made the sighting at about 9 a.m. Wednesday, whilst driving a tractor across his neighbours (Mr. Albert Pennisi) property. He saw a saucer-shaped object rise quickly from Horseshoe Lagoon, leaving a physical trace in the reeds. The physical trace phenomenon as an enduring aspect to the UFO mystery, having manifested itself for the entire duration of the modern era of the UFO controversy. And like the UFO phenomenon itself, it is global in its extent.

At present Bill is investigating an alleged UFO crash in outback NSW, meeting with local aborigines and it is through word of mouth, that Bill is trying to piece together the location of the alleged crash site. This case is still under investigation and may take some time to complete. Then Bill went on to discuss Peter Khoury’s case and the DNA that was obtained. Peters case is very interesting and is the only case in Australia that has any form of scientific verifiable evidence of the unusual kind. (See Volume 3 No.3 ‘UFO Abductions & Science’; Volume 5 No. 1 ‘A Proven Focused DNA Technique for Assessing Claims of Alien Abduction’)

Leslie Kean spoke again. This time Leslie spoke in depth about the “Kecksburg Incident” in Pennsylvania. What exactly soared through the late afternoon skies of Canada, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania on 5 December 1965? Eye witnesses described the unknown object as a “fireball,” but it seemed to be under some type of intelligent control, as it veered somewhat in Ohio toward the Quaker State. One of the first official reports of that day came from Frances Kalp, who phoned in her experience to radio station WHJB in Greensburg at 6:30 pm. She related seeing a fiery object crash into a wooded area near her home in Westmoreland County. Kalp and her children had approached the site within a half-mile, and there, they saw an odd object resembling a “four-pointed star.”

Radio station employee John Murphy immediately phoned in the report to the Pennsylvania State Police Department. The Police phoned Kalp and arranged to meet her in Kecksburg. The Kecksburg case has to be one of the most covered-up cases, other than Roswell. One can only hope Leslie Kean, Research Director of the Coalition for Freedom of Information (CFI), a new high profile organization based in Washington, DC, reveal the truth about what the US government knows about UFOs. A very good speaker.

Last speaker of the day was Budd Hopkins. Budd introduced his new book “Sight Unseen”. Budd book is co-authored by Carol Rainey. He talked of fascinating discoveries in modern science which support the plausibility of the UFO phenomenon.

He talked of sixteen never-before-published cases. He talked of two newly uncovered patterns in alien abduction and cases of UFO “invisibility” with reports of genetically altered alien beings who interact with humans during their routine lives. The “invisibility” accounts which Budd detailed included numerous daylight abductions in densely populated urban areas - all apparently unseen and accomplished through a technology of invisibility. Two airforce non-coms are snatched from the tarmac of a busy military airfield and our very own Australian family were levitated up into a hovering craft while the father remains paralyzed on the ground with a camera to his eye. The resulting evidence on film is discussed in terms of our own scientific advances.

See you in the next issue of the Ufologist.
