The observer reported initially seeing a round orange light, slightly to the west but almost overhead, that appeared larger than the moon in the clear evening sky.

It first appeared stationary for a minute. Then it commenced moving silently, and made sudden right angle turns, changed colour to blue and then to red. It vanished and then later reappeared. It did this a couple of times and was last seen in the eastern sky after five minutes.

The observer thought that she might have seen a second object as well.

David reported seeing three orange lights about 500 metres apart, with no associated flashing lights. They were over the bay towards Point Lonsdale, looking west. They appeared to be very slow moving and travelled from south towards the north, heading towards Melbourne. It was difficult to tell how far away the objects were. David watched them for about five minutes. He went inside for a minute and they had gone when he looked back. George Simpson AUFORN VIC

On 12 May 2004 around 9.30 pm, in suburban Yarraville, Melbourne, Simon was outside in the back garden having a smoke and gazing up at the stars. He noticed a movement in the sky and as he fixed onto that spot he could see a sort of black outline moving across the black sky. It seemed triangular in shape and his first thought was that it was like a stealth bomber. Being under the Melbourne flight path, he felt it was at the same altitude if not lower than the regular planes he sees. It had no lights at all and made no sound. Aircraft flying overhead normally make a lot of noise. It wasn’t shooting across the sky but it did seem to be travelling at twice the speed of a jumbo jet at the same altitude. It maintained a constant speed and trajectory towards the ocean. He lost the sighting as buildings got in the way. Simon is not convinced that it was an alien ship of any kind but it wasn’t normal. Although it was black against a black background, it did appear more triangular than boomerang-shaped. The sighting lasted about ten seconds.

26.05.04 REIDS LOOKOUT - GRAMPIANS, VIC 1830-2130hrs (NL)
Source: Source The Australian U.F.O. Bulletin June 2004
It was a fine, dry, cold evening with moderate to strong wind and light cloud above the fire lookout tower on top of Reids Lookout. The observer calmly assembled her telescope with associated CCD colour digital video camera, at the base of the fire tower, and commenced recording the activities of from six to eight, and possibly more, lights located northwest of the lookout.

Paul Norman and two visiting Americans, who Paul was personally guiding through the active UFO areas in the grampians, were also present on Reids Lookout during this sighting. The four observers were looking down, a few degrees below the horizon, into the Wartook Valley, although on some occasions, the more dynamic of these lights had been observed at elevations ranging from near horizontal to directly overhead.

While to the naked eye, the lights usually appeared at point light sources when seen over a distance ranging from twelve to fifteen kilometres, the reporting observer estimated tat the largest lights subtended an angle of about fifteen kilometres would have had a diameter of about sixty-five metres. This diameter would be reduced to fifty-two metres if seen from twelve kilometres away. The lights ranged in colour from white-gold, to white, and blue-white.

The reporting observer recorded the activities of the lights for about three hours, at which time the tape ran out and she went home. The activity continued unabated.

27.05.04 POATINA, TAS 2000hrs (NL)
The family of witnesses was travelling home on the highway and had just gone past Poatina when they noticed a steady brilliant-white light to the north. They stopped and got out for a clear view. The light then moved west before tracking back to the east at a higher speed. Then the light moved vertically about 10-degrees before vanishing. Keith Roberts TUFOIC

A witness reported that an object flashed across intersection at the top of a small rise from east to west. It lit up the top of the trees, but the glow from it did not reach the road. Object appeared to be about 20m of the ground, judging by the height of the trees. There was no sound from the object. It seemed to be round like a ball, glowing white like phosphorescence. There was a crescent moon in the sky, and the object seemed to be about the size of a fully risen full moon. Dominic McNamara AUFORN SA

The initial worry was over an unusually short interruption to power, 2 seconds. Too long to be a switchover and too short to be fault interrupted.

The witness then spent some 4 minutes outside on the veranda. Then another interruption for 2 seconds to the power during which, a brilliant flash of white on the horizon lit up into the sky. "...towards the ocean, white blue flash, quick as lightning, brilliant and upward - but no object. Too fast, too bright.....". Witness lives at South west Morphett Vale and was looking out over Lonsdale/Christies way. Dominic McNamara AUFORN SA
